Palm Coast Fire Department’s Caleb Dann, Brandon Davis and Gunner Pemberton Are Promoted

Today, the Palm Coast Fire Department announced that Firefighters Gunner Pemberton and Caleb Dann were promoted to Driver Engineer and Driver Engineer Brandon Davis was promoted to Lieutenant. Furthermore, both Pemberton and Dann are now State Certified Paramedics after completing Daytona State College’s paramedic curriculum.

The department’s dedication to fostering excellence and developing leadership within its ranks is demonstrated by these promotions.

As a first-line supervisor, Lieutenant Brandon Davis will be in charge of overseeing emergency response activities such as EMS, fire suppression, and auto accidents. In addition to leading fire departments at incident scenes, lieutenants also help firefighters train and prepare to perform at their highest level. In 2006, Davis became a volunteer firefighter for the department. He returned to the internship program in 2017 after a short break, and in 2018 he was promoted to career fireman. He was promoted to Driver Engineer in 2022 and has First Coast Technical College credentials as a Firefighter, EMT, and Paramedic. As a skilled drummer, Davis is also well-known outside of the firehouse for his musical abilities.

Driver engineers work for the Palm Coast Fire Department in a very technical capacity. Their duties include safely transporting fire apparatus to and from emergency scenes, operating the department’s most sophisticated mechanical tools, like hydraulic ladders and fire pumps, and exhibiting leadership in maintaining the equipment of the fire department in a state of constant readiness.

A proud member of the Class of 2021 at Matanzas High School, Gunner Pemberton started his career in fire service at Daytona State College, where he obtained his certifications as an EMT and a firefighter in 2023. Gunner, a native of Long Island, New York, settled in Palm Coast and moved from the kitchen to the fireground while working as a cook in Flagler Beach. Pemberton is still serving with expertise and passion today as a State Certified Paramedic and Driver Engineer.

Originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Caleb Dann graduated from Atlantic High School, where he was a standout football player. He recently earned his State Paramedic Certification after completing his Firefighter and EMT certifications at Daytona State College. Dann, who was just promoted to Driver Engineer, approaches every incident with a strong sense of leadership and a love for emergency medicine.

Fire Chief Kyle Berryhill expressed his pride in Brandon, Gunner, and Caleb’s diligence, commitment, and development. Their accomplishments in the workplace demonstrate their commitment to quality work and the expansion of the Palm Coat Fire Department. We look forward to seeing how their leadership will continue to develop our strengths and shape our culture.

The Palm Coast Fire Department expressed its appreciation for these personnel’ persistent commitment to serving our community and congratulated them on their well-earned accomplishments.
