The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office and law enforcement partners will be stepping up patrols along roads, rivers, parks, and other high-traffic locations around the county to make sure that residents and visitors have a safe Fourth of July weekend. Beginning on July 3 and lasting through the holiday weekend, these enforcement actions will be carried out.
In order to conduct traffic details centered on aggressive driving, speeding, and seatbelt infractions, the FCSO Traffic Enforcement Unit will collaborate with the Florida Highway Patrol, the Flagler Beach Police Department, and the Bunnell Police Department along the county’s busiest roads. Throughout the weekend, more patrol deputies will concentrate on enforcing DUI laws.
The FCSO Marine Unit will work with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to patrol the Intracoastal Waterway and canals around Palm Coast for unsafe boating, such as speeding, reckless operation, and boating while intoxicated.
Sheriff Rick Staly stated that while Independence Day is a time to honor your liberties and our wonderful nation, it is crucial that you do it responsibly. You will forfeit that independence if you decide to drive or take a boat after drinking too much, as you will be spending your vacation at the Green Roof Inn.
Along with the surge of people attending United Flagler 4th events scheduled throughout the day, such as the Fireworks Over the Runways in Palm Coast and the Stars and Stripes Parade in Flagler Beach, the FCSO is also getting ready for an increase in activity in beaches and parks around the county. Increased visibility and patrols in high-traffic locations, such as parks, parking lots, beaches, and beach approaches, will be provided to the FCSO Beach Patrol Unit, Bike Unit, and Citizen Observer Patrol Bike Unit.
Sheriff Staly advises everyone to do their part to avoid becoming easy targets for criminals in addition to his enhanced presence. Sheriff Staly added, “There are a lot of easy things you can do to keep yourself and your belongings safe when you’re out enjoying the long holiday weekend.” Remember to secure your car doors and conceal any valuables before you go for the parade, park, or beach. Be mindful of your surroundings, stay vigilant, and never leave your belongings unattended when you’re out having fun.
Visitation at the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, the District 2 Office in Palm Coast, and the FCSO Operations Center in Bunnell will all be closed on July 4 and return on July 7. Residents can contact the FCSO Communications Center at 386-313-4911 for non-emergencies or 911 for emergencies, which is available year-round.
