Roger Handberg, a former U.S. attorney for the Middle District of Florida, has become a shareholder in Gray Robinson’s litigation practice.
Handberg, who will work out of GrayRobinson’s Orlando office, joins the company with over 20 years of experience in complicated litigation, government investigations, and high-stakes white-collar defense. [The Palm Coast government often hires Gray Robinson for special matters; the company is the one representing the city in the Splash Padcase. It represented it in the scharter-amendment case from the previous year. It is defending it against the lawsuit filed by Palm Coast Mayor Mike Norris against his own city.]
“We are incredibly thrilled to have Roger Handberg join GrayRobinson,” stated Dean Cannon, president and CEO of GrayRobinson. Our litigation practice benefits greatly from Roger’s experience as a former U.S. Attorney who worked in one of the busiest federal districts in the nation. His knowledge of the DOJ and expertise in defense work improve our capacity to help clients navigate the most difficult legal and regulatory obstacles of our day.
In order to help companies, financial institutions, boards, and executives navigate government scrutiny, enforcement actions, and accusations concerning financial crime, public corruption, and regulatory risk, Handberg focuses his practice on providing strategic, results-driven assistance. Using extensive trial expertise and an insider’s knowledge of DOJ priorities and strategies, he helps clients navigate concurrent civil, criminal, and reputational risks. He is nationally renowned for his courtroom credibility.
According to Handberg, joining GrayRobinson is a significant next step in his career. I have dedicated my career in public service to handling intricate legal issues with the highest accuracy, discernment, and integrity. I was drawn to GrayRobinson because it is a true Florida company with strong ties in Washington, D.C., and deep roots throughout the state. I’m thrilled to contribute my expertise to a group renowned for its breadth, promptness, and steadfast dedication to assisting clients in risk management and making critical decisions when the stakes are high.
Handberg graduated from Chapel Hill with an undergraduate degree in political science and Harvard with a law degree. He has Georgia and Florida licenses to practice.
Prior to becoming the U.S. Attorney, he held high-level positions in the Florida Attorney General’s Office and the Department of Justice, including Senior Assistant Attorney General, Criminal Chief, Orlando Division Chief, and Senior Litigation Counsel. He successfully oversaw fraud cases totaling over $500 million while serving as a federal prosecutor. His proactive approach to crisis management and defense is now influenced by that institutional experience.
