On Friday, July 4, the Flagler County Government and the Cities of Palm Coast, Flagler Beach, and Bunnell extend an invitation to all citizens and guests of Flagler County to attend the United Flagler 4th Community Celebration.
The Rotary Club of Flagler Beach presents the beloved Stars and Stripes parade down A1A in Flagler Beach in the morning, which kicks off the day’s events. The parade will go along A1A at Flagler Beach along its customary path from North 6th Street to South 6th Street, passing the pier that is set to be removed and rebuilt (together with that boardwalk).
Residents and guests can enjoy the beach (be sure to wear sunscreen) and the music and entertainment offered by DJ Vern of SURF 97.3 FM at Veterans Park in Flagler Beach after the parade. Hula hoops, corn hole toss, limbo, and a Kona Ice brain-freeze competition are among the daytime diversions offered there.
The Fireworks Over the Runways, held at the Flagler Executive Airport off of Fin Way in Palm Coast, will be the day’s high point. Gates open at 5 p.m., and everyone in the neighborhood is welcome to attend. At nine o’clock at night, the fireworks show starts. The $19,500 fireworks show was produced by Jacksonville’s Master Pyro Displays. More than 3,300 shells will be included, with over 3,000 of them being 3 inches or smaller, 149 being 4 inches, 100 being 5 inches, six being 18 inches, and four being 8 inches or greater. The estimated duration of the show is 15 to 16 minutes.
Please be aware that this year’s fireworks show will be held at a different location.
Fin Way off South Belle Terre Boulevard will lead to the south side (rear) of the airport, where guest parking, including handicapped parking, will be located. This year, this will be the only venue for the event. There won’t be any parking at Flagler Palm Coast High School or access to the airport’s front.
There will be a range of vendors, such as food sellers, a beer garden, children’s activities, and more. At 7:00 p.m., local luminaries and elected officials will recite the Declaration of Independence, while a DJ will keep the mood lively on the main stage. The nation’s colors will be presented by the Palm Coast Fire Department Honor Guard, and the National Anthem will be performed by the gifted Melanie DiMartino. Lawn chairs are welcomed for visitors. Additionally, a handwashing station and portable restrooms will be available.
Everything about the event, including parking, is free. It is strictly forbidden to use glass bottles. During the fireworks display, the airport will temporarily close, although it will stay open throughout the day. Parking, crosswalks, and traffic control will be managed by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office in coordination with the Palm Coast Public Works Department and Flagler County Assist volunteers. To accommodate as many people as possible, carpooling is highly encouraged.
